Evaluation.

1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and convention of real media products?

The band playing are Kasabian which appeal to the type of audience which I have aimed my magazine to be read by. The people shown in the crowd of this YouTube video would generally be the audience for my magazine. This is videoed live at a festival, festivals would potentially hold a lot of my target audience which gave me the idea to use festival related articles inside my magazine. This will hopefully attract more readers from my target audience aged 16-20.

5. How did you attract/address your audience?
(Videos on audiences opinions)

designed my magazine based on my results from my questionnaire which where given by my target audience. This allowed me to meet all there preferred Fonts, colour scheme's and magazine titles, also which magazines they liked best currently and how there layed out.

My questionnaire shown in the image above (also in blog)

To attract my target audience I put this questionnaire together to help me use the correct aspects which my target audience would prefer to see. I handed my questionnaire around Priestley College to students as they matched my target age group. This gave me real opinions on my idea of upcoming bands, and if it would be successful within the age group.

6.What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

The internet as a research tool: I used the internet for many aspects of building my media product for things such as; Market research which enabled me to view statistics of other competing magazines, which i could use to help my magazine. Also i could use youtube for finding videos of my target audience. Also on the internet i used prezi which is a website which allows me to create and design a presentation, i could put on my blog.
Blogging: My blog was very important as it allowed me to hold all my previous work and keep check on what was needed for me to complete my media product. Aswell as doing this it also allowed me to upload pictures and videos to each post to help expand my work.
Digital cameras: The use of the camera's helped to improve the level of quality in my final magazine photo's. I used the camera to take all of my cover page, content page and double page spreads images. Also the camera helped me to video responses from my target audience.
Photoshop: This programme enabled me to edit and modify my chosen images for my magazine, with out this i wouldnt of been able to manipulate the images to fit the design and layout of my magazine. Also as the programme is easy to use, this is good as it lets you play around with different tools and effects giving my magazine better qualities and designs.
- Whilst designing my front cover, photoshop enabled me to change the contrast, add glows and shadows and bevels to my images. Being able to use various layers on my design of my cover page allowed me to overlap images and texts to present a traditional magazine look.
Quark: This programme was used to layout my content page and DPS, being able to use pictures and text made it easier to see how the final product would look.
All of the technologies used to produce my product has widened my knowledge on the bases of editing and producing a media magazine.

7.Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Research: I have learned that the more research i put into my products background and competition the more understanding i will have on my own, which allows me to expand further on my product and achieve more.
Planning: Planning is a key aspect which reflects on your final product as it gives you ideas to go off, i planned alot more in detail before i started the production of my magazine which helped. Such as my audience questionnaire.
Photography: With the digital camera's used my knowledge and skills have expanded as i am now able to use different effects and contrasts to help the quality of my photo's.
Blog: I have learned that the more i publish on my blog, the more i keep on top of my work as i am able to see what i have and have not done, and also how it appears. My skills with in this site have widened as i can now embed html codes and paste them into my blog.
Image manipulation: Just from comparing my preliminary tasks cover page and my music magazines cover page, you can see that my knowledge and understanding on how to manipulate the images on my products have improved. I now know how to use alot of tools to help develop the level of quality of my digital images.
Design skills: From using both photoshop and Quark i now can design my magazine to as close as my plan as possible. This prevents my product looking disorganised or poorly presented.
